("ROSWELL" review continued).
The film stars Kyle MacLachlan ("Twin Peaks", "Dune") as US Army Air Force
(RAAF) intelligence officer Jesse Marcel and also has one of my favourite
actors, Martin Sheen, playing a "Deep Throat" type of character (Townsend),
who weaves in all the more contemporary UFO "lore" (be it information or
disinformation, including a "MJ12" type group, James Forrestal's
communication with the Roswell alien, his "suicide", the Holloman EBE
landing of 1964, Area 51, cattle Mutilations, abductions, etc).
The film has good production values and at the very least makes for
stimulating and thoughtful entertainment. Just at what level you take it
depends entirely on your position and knowledge of this affair.
I'm sure that the film will serve the purpose of making people think able
the UFO phenomenon and more specifically the Roswell affair. The USAF has
now released their "final" report on the saga "weaving" a story around the
Mogul balloon explanation. It will be interesting to see how this whole
saga will develop, given the "critical mass" it is reaching with this film,
the various books and all the other offerings about the Roswell saga.
People interested in further details on the Roswell affair should at least
consult:
1. "The Truth about the UFO Crash at Roswell" by Kevin Randle and Donald
Schmitt, M. Evans, 1994 (and the paperback update)
2. "UFO Crash at Roswell" by Randle & Schmitt, Avon, 1991.
3. "Crash at Corona" by Stanton Friedman & Don Berliner, Paragon House, 1992
(excepting the Jerry Anderson saga)
4. "The Roswell Incident" by Charles Berlitz & Bill Moore, Grosset & Dunlap,
1980 (or its paperback editions)
5. "The Roswell Report" George Eberhart editor, Centre for UFO Studies
(CUFOS), 1991.
6. The International UFO Reporter from CUFOS, out of Chicago, has regularly
updated the evolution of the Roswell controversy in all its manifestations.
7. The USAF Air Force report on Roswell, 1994 ( Paraqnet has carried a copy
of the Sept. 8th report (23 pages). The Fund for UFO Research has issued a
report including the USAF report.
8. "Roswell in Perspective" by Karl Pflock, Fund for UFO research, 1994.
Enjoy the movie "Roswell".
